A CITY TO GET LOST IN

What will Milan give you?

Probably not what you had planned. Milan changes quickly: an exhibition, a new address, a courtyard you had never noticed before.

It is a city that works better when you stop looking for something specific and simply start looking around.

This guide starts here: places to see, streets to get lost in, and addresses that reveal different ways of experiencing the city.

MANZONI — FIND YOUR LOOK

If you love fashion, start from Via Manzoni.

It is one of the areas where Milan best expresses its style: major fashion houses, independent boutiques, vintage shops, and concept stores coexist just a few steps from one another.

Here you will also find the Semicouture boutique, the place to start when choosing your look and building your own way of experiencing the city. Then, keep walking without a set itinerary, between Manzoni, Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga, and Brera.

Let yourself be guided by the shop windows, the details, and the things you weren't looking for.

Best for: Semicouture, fashion hunting, vintage, inspiration.

NOLO — WATCH SOMETHING DIFFERENT

NoLo tells the story of a different Milan. More spontaneous, less polished, and with a strong neighbourhood identity.

One of its landmarks is the Cinema Beltrade, perfect for those looking for independent films, festivals, and programming outside the most conventional circuits. Here, the film can be just the beginning: cinema, meetings, and cultural events often become a good reason to stay in the neighbourhood longer than expected.

Best for: independent cinema, culture, neighbourhood life.

PORTA VENEZIA — WALK, DON’T GOOGLE

Porta Venezia doesn't need an itinerary. The best way to discover it is to step off the main streets, duck into the narrow alleys, peek into the courtyards, and follow an interesting shop window.

Retail is changing here, too. No longer just shops, but spaces where fashion, books, objects, art, and lifestyle coexist, creating worlds to walk through. You enter to see a product and end up immersed in an experience. It’s shopping, but above all, inspiration.

Best for: concept stores, architecture, hidden corners.

MARTESANA — SLOW DOWN

Milan is not just about speed. Along the Martesana, the pace changes.

The best way to discover it is by bicycle, following the canal and stopping whenever something looks interesting. Small restaurants, unconventional venues, live music, and new creative spaces are transforming this area into one of the most exciting parts of the city.

You don't need a plan here. Just pedal, stop, and see what happens.

Best for: bikes, live music, small restaurants, slow afternoons..

TRIENNALE — STAY CURIOUS

There are places you walk into for an exhibition and end up staying for something completely different.

Triennale Milano is one of them. Art, design, photography, and architecture intertwine with music, performances, talks, meetings, and debates. The program is constantly changing, and that is precisely its beauty: check what’s happening that day and let yourself be surprised.

Best for: exhibitions, design, music, conversations.

UN'ULTIMA COSA

Milan changes its skin too quickly for boredom to take root.

You can experience it in good company, but here even being alone can become a form of freedom.

Walk without rushing. Let the city pass through you, instead of just looking at it from the outside. Sometimes, the best things are the ones you hadn't planned on finding.
